- Scopes Trial
- Today we will be learning about evolution but first let me find my cup of Joe
- What's going on!
- You're under arrest for violating the Butler Act that the big cheese made
- The Butler act was a law put in place in Tennessee that banned Charles Darwin's theory of evolution from being taught in schools due to it conflicting with religion.
- Scopes was a science in Dayton Tennesse who also taught math but even though he was a science teacher he never taught biolgy.

- Scopes was arrested for violating this act that banned the teaching of evolution. What people didn't know was that this was going to be the biggest contraversy of the decade.
- I thought he was going to swim with the fishes
- Time to see if you'll hit the curb or not. Now get out!
- Multiple people would show up outside the courthouse that day. Every person knew about it over radio or from friends. A trial by lead by religion or science.
- Though the debate was split sided the jury took 9 minutes to find him guilty and fine him $100 but he was able to walk away with no prison time
- So your honor how much moolah are you going to fine him.
- After the trail Scopes went to quit his job and study to become a geoligist. Both lawyers in the trail both said that it was a victory making it a tie in the eyes of the people.
