The once foresty landscape has been reduced to a few trees and has created a whole host of problems including the increased amount of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere.
Humans destroy these forests for new commercial land or to create new plantations for a specific crop. Agriculture is a booming business and so people tear down forests to create space for their crops.
Deforestation gets rid of tress, our only line of defense against greenhouse gases, and as a result they have nothing preventing them from filling our atmosphere. This along with the increased emissions gained from the machines destroying the forest allows for the greenhouse gases to increase faster and escape to create holes in our ozone layer.
Another way that greenhouse gasses spread to the atmosphere from deforestation is when the people who tear the forest down leave the trees to rot or just decide to burn them. This sends an excessive amount of greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere and also is a waste of wood that could have been used.
One solution is to create very strict laws against it, such as banning completely clear-cutting forests. Another law would only allow for a certain, small, amount of land to be harvested, and to always put that would to use, and not just leave it or burn it
Another solution is to just recycle old, out of commission plots of land for the new agriculture. This will eliminate waste as well as preserve not only forests but also commercial land that could be put to much better use. These solutions will help eliminate deforestation and reduce greenhouse gasses.
