George and Lydia Hadly have two children that they've spoiled with technology. They don't know how to do anything without technology, and they grow dependent upon it. They live in a smart house and the nursery they own was intended to help the children. Throughout the story you see that the nursery turns into a room of destructive and harmful thoughts.
My theme: Technology should assist not control. OR Technology in the wrong hands, can't be trusted.
Smart House (nursery)
"Now we're going to start living instead of being handled and messaged, We're going to live."
The Veldt -Ray Bradbury
Quote: "Technology is a useful servant but a dangerous master." - Christian Lous Lange
The nursery (power)
"The room became a channel toward destructive thoughts."
The smart house spoiled the family and made it so that they didn't have a life. Meaning the technology did everything for them, they did nothing for themselves. Technology took control, technology is their life.
Technology should assist not control
Topic, setting, and conflict because it gives examples of the negative effects of technology.
The nursery is becoming "too real", gaining power, causing disturbance and insecurity.
"Did you see? Did you feel? It's too real."
The technology has been taken advantage of by the children (wrong hands) causing destructiveness.
