  • (2) Oh, hi! I'm from Slovakia. I lived there for years before I came here.
  • In a mixed economy, individuals have a lot of freedom while the government has enough say to be able to make sure the country is moving forward.
  • (4) Well the nature is very beautiful.
  • (3) Really? What was it like there?
  • (7) That means that both individuals and the government have a say within the economy.
  • (1) Hi! I like your accent! Where are you from?
  • (5) Blah Blah Blah. Tell me about the economy!
  • (6) What? The economy? You must be a smart kid. Very well then. To start, it has a mixed economy, just like the United States.
  • Slovakia produces vehicles, machinery and electrical equipment, iron and steel, exotic fruits, grains, and much more. All of the goods sum up to about $105 billion USD and $81 billion USD in just exports.
  • (3)The country exports and imports so much of it. They are the largest car producer.
  • (5) Yes actually. We make lots of potatoes and other things like fruit and rice.
  • (2) Slovakia manufactures lots of vehicles and their parts.
  • (4) Once, I drove to the store to get potatoes for dinner. Do you guys have potatoes. I really love potatoes.
  • (1) And what kinds of things do they make?
  • (1) Did you know that most of the population works to produce and manufacture products?
  • 93% of the population is labored, and people are unemployed at a rate of 8.1%. There also is a 7.2% poverty rate as of 2019.
  • (2) Really? Is it hard to work there?
  • (3) It depends, but it's more difficult there. It has been getting better though.
  • (1) Do you guys have a lot of space? I wanna be able to run around and play.
  • (2) Automobile, wood and paper, and oil businesses are super popular.
  • Industries such as automobile (metal/metal products, electricity), gas, wood and paper, oil, and nuclear fuel (chemicals, etc) are very significant. Businesses grow at a rate of 3.5% every year.
  • (1) What kind of businesses are there?
  • Slovakia mostly has brown coal, lignite, iron ore, copper, and manganese ore as natural resources. These are also apart of exports.
  • (2) They mine lots of coal and iron. I know, boring.
  • (1) Oh! what natural things do they make?
  • (4) Haha. Just because of the fields?
  • 28% of Slovakia is arable land where hundreds of farms set in place to grow mostly fruits and grains.
  • (2) Lots of it. There are endless fields to run on.
  • (5) Yup!
  • (3) I wanna go to Slovakia one day now.
