Frederick Douglass was a slave on a plantation in Baltimore Maryland, and he was so sick and tired of his dreadful and disappointing slave lifestyle. Frederick persevered the endless days and the restless nights with not one complaint, the slave masters were awful. Frederick would spend his little free time reading, lying down, and even simply looking at the sky. He was so done with his day to day life being used and overworked by the slave masters and he wanted out desperately. Douglass wanted to run away and go and be free like the white men, but he was hesitant and scared to leave. Finally Frederick decided to make a big move and he did, that night, Frederick ran away.
Frederick had just run away from his life on the plantation, deep into the dark haunting woods, Frederick had just set up camp and a small bonfire being wary of his surroundings. Douglass was afraid and very on edge ready to run at the sight of anyone. Frederick started to hear footsteps he was startled but what he saw was a fellow slave. Frederick asked “what’s your name sir” and he responded “my name is Sandy, nice to meet you”.
Sandy said “you must come for dinner tonight” Frederick replied saying “thank you for the kind offer but I could not impose” Sandy said “you must, it's my pleasure”. Frederick ended up agreeing to dinner and off they went to Sandy’s home. They arrived and Frederick was happier than ever, he was so grateful to have an actual meal with no worries among him. Frederick ate and ate the plate was licked clean and Frederick was satisfied. The men stayed at the table talking for hours, Sandy gave Frederick so much good advice and good wisdom.
