  • Women in the War
  • Native Americans in the War
  • Africans in the War
  • We will set you free if you fight with us
  • Martha Washington donated money, clothes, and many other items to soldiers. She also took care of them by giving them water and caring for them.
  • Foreign-Born Heroes of the Revolution
  • Now we will learn about bayonet combat.
  • Native Americans helped the British to prevent colonization and they thought the British would win. Native Americans would help the Americans because they had a community with the Americans and had a 150 year alliance.
  • Espionage/Intelligence Gathering
  • Ciphers and Secret code were a spying method in which words were replaced by symbols.
  • Invisible Ink was another spying method. It was made of ferrous sulfate and water, lemon juice or milk.
  • Africans were promised freedom if they joined a side. Some Africans were forced to join a certain side. Americans did not want to arm slaves in case of a rebellion. 
  • Weapons/Tactics/Military Life

  • Baron Von Stueben introduced new battle tactics and trained troops and helped with combat during Valley Forge.
  • There were many spying methods and both sides had many spies. Nathan Hale and Anna Strong were some of the American spies. Ann Bates and Benedict Arnold were some British spies.
  • Hidden Letters was another method.  Letters and small noted were rolled up and put into small, tight spaces where few people would care to look.
  • *Guerilla Tactics-Allowed a small force to slow and wear down a large force. This was useful for a sneak attack or quick retreat.  *Linear Tactics-Allowed user to deal a steady rate of fire and troops were tightly packed.
