On a cold Christmas eve, nothing was stirring, not even a mouse. Except for the Patriot army. They planned to capture a Hessian base, which would be off guard since it was Christmas.
Winter at Valley Forge
In an attempt to avenge the Hessian Base, the British pursued Washington's army, but could not find him and were split up. One portion found him and were defeated due to lack of numbers. New Jersey became fully Patriotic.
The Battle of Yorktown
After defeating the Patriots, the British continued in their campaign south from New York, until the Patriots caught up. John Burgoyne was all alone. Two other armies were supposed to be with him, but they never showed up, and his army was overpowered by the Patriots. This victory convinced France that America was a worthy ally.
The Patriots were forced to brave a harsh and brutal winter in order to watch over Philadelphia. Disease was rampant and food was short.

Washington trapped the British in their base for one last final attempt at victory. The Patriots won, and the British surrendered the war. America had achieved independence.
