  • The Battle of Brooklyn
  • These are American Soldiers
  • There are British soldiers
  • The Battle of Saratoga
  • I am Horatio Gates.
  • I am John Burgoyne.
  • Winter at Valley Forge
  • The crisis
  • The British wanted control of the Hudson River, so they fought the Americans for it. They had more troops, and the weather was poor. The British won the battle and it was the first major battle to take place for the revolutionary war.
  • The Southern Campain: Cowpens
  • The first battle took place in Stillwater, New York. General Horatio gates had tried to invade Canada with the American colonists. They failed to do so, because General John Burgoyne and his British soldiers grew too powerful. The same happened for the second battle.  But, this renewed the morale of the American public.
  • The Southern Campaign: Guilford Courthouse
  • We are stronger than you imagined!
  • The Patriots won
  • The north of Philadelphia's winter was damp and cold. Many soldiers had no clothing or shoes. Food was horrible, and disease spread.  Thomas Paine's pamphlet, "The Crisis" convinced the population to support the army, and was read aloud to Washington's troops to motivate them.
  • The Battle/ Siege of Yorktown
  • This was the first major battle fought and won by the continental army. This was the battle which had lead to the revolution. Lieutenant and Colonel Jonne Howards had misheard the directions, and ordered the men the retreat. The British charged after them, but they still got defeated.
  • Go after them now!
  • Why did my men retreat?!?!?
  • The event happened in Greensboro, North Carolina. The British had needed control of something after Boston had been taken. Though they had won, it was a Pyrrhic victory, because they had lost so many troops and forces it cost so much. They also realized how much more powerful the colonists were than they had thought.
  • What a horrible win! Now Britian has lost many troops and weapons!
  • General Charles Cornwallis had his troops stationed in Yorktown, and George Washington tried to seize the land. The French had helped them scare away the British fleet, so the British troops were trapped. The battle ended on colonial land, and the colonies could now govern themselves.
