  • What's up, Elian? Is it okay to ask for a few minutes of your time? I'd want to ask you a question about our foreign language class. What can you say about the Foreign Language class this semester? How important is it for you to learn a foreign language?
  • Yes ,you can ask anytime you want. As tourism student, having a foreign language course is nothing new to me because I was aware of it from the start. When it comes learning the Foreign Language, it is really beneficial, especially if we plan to travel abroad. The Spanish language is tough to master, but if you take it slowly and carefully, you will finally master it. And of course, learning other languages is crucial since it means that I am able to interact with foreign people when I travel. We don't have to be fluent, but knowing a few key phrases can give us the confidence to ask important questions and exchange basic information when we travel.
  • Exactly. That's what I like to hear coming from you. But, in addition, if you happen to travel to a country that speaks a similar language, you might still be able to use this information to communicate.
  • Yes, you are right. That is called mutually-intelligible languages, which are languages that are similar enough to each other that speakers of one language can understand the other language.
