In the first scene of the book it introduces us to the main character Bruno and the maid Maria. When Bruno enters his room he sees Maria packing all his things. He finds out that him and his family are moving away from Berlin for his father's work. This is the explosion because it is introducing one of the main characters, it is showing us the setting, and showing us the start to an important part of the book.
Dilema
When the family gets to the new house they see it is much smaller than their old house. Bruno does not like the house at all and wants to go home. He does not like it because there is nowhere to explore, he doesn't have any friends there, his grandparents are not there, and it is just not the same. He complains to his mother about this but she just tells him that he needs to make the best out of it because they will be there for the foreseeable future.
Climax
One day Bruno was exploring along the fence when came across Shmuel, a Jewish boy who lived on the other side of the fence. They started talking and became friends. Bruno would come back everyday to talk to Shmuel and bring him food. This is a rising action because it is starting a friendship and situation that will last through the whole book.
Resolution
Bruno and Shmuel became very good friends. They would talk every single day. The dilema is that they wished they could play together but they could not because of their circumstances. If they were to play together they would both get in trouble.
Shmuel brings Bruno a pair of striped pajamas for him to wear. Bruno changes into them then rolls under the fence. He leaves his clothes on the other side. They start walking towards the camp. This is the climax because they have solved the problem and we are focused in on what will happen next.
Bruno and Shmuel get caught up in a crowd that is going on a march which leads to a air tight room. Bruno grabs Shmuel hand and tells him he is his best friend for life. Moments later the lights are turned off and they are killed by the gas. This is the result of all the leading events in the book
