  • CAUSES OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION
  • By:Julianne Izod HOW IT ALL BEGAN...
  • The French and Indian war was a main instigator of the American Revolution.
  • CAUSE 2- INTOLERABLE ACTS
  • THE FRENCH AND INDIAN WAR
  • The war left Britain in so much debt, they were forced to tax the colonies. The colonies would soon become tired of the British's antics and taxes.
  • CAUSE 1- THE DECLARATORY  ACT
  • This act stated that the British Parliament had the right to tax and govern the colonies. They initiated this act without the colonist's consent.
  • The colonists were upset that Parliament had the right to reinstate their power over the recently united colonies without their consent. They rebelled against this act.
  • REACTION 1- THE DECLARATORY ACT
  • This was an attempt to punish the Massachusetts colony for the Boston Tea Party. They closed the Boston harbor which was used for trade, and banned the committees of correspondence. Plus, British troops could house wherever they wanted.
  • This was essentially the final straw for the colonists. Nearby colonies sent supplies to the Massachusetts colony, and they boycotted British goods. The colonies all met together, and decided how else they were going to conquer Parliaments' antics.
  • REACTION 2- THE INTOLERABLE ACTS
