  • You nearly crashed the car!
  • Adams is driving on the bridge when he sees a man.  He serves to avoid hitting the man and continues on his way.  The Hitchhiker didn't look threatening, but Adams still felt uncomfortable.
  • Climax
  • Adams continues on his way to the east coast, but sees the same hitchhiker that he saw on the bridge over and over again.  He asked a mechanic that was filling up his car id hitchhikers were a normal occurrence, which they weren't.  He also stopped by a shop to ask if they had any coffee, in case he was imagining it due to sleep deprecation.  The store owner nearly called the cops because Adams woke him up in the middle of the night for coffee.
  • Resolution
  • Ronald picks up a hitchhiking girl, on the side of the road, because he can't stand to be in the car alone any longer.  Almost immediately, he almost crashed, while trying to trying to run down the hitchhiker, who the girl didn't see.  A little while later, he crashed into a barbed wire fence, again, while trying to chase down the hitchhiker.  The girl no longer wanted to be in the car with him and fought him to get out.
  • Want a ride?
  • Ronald calls his mother at home, but someone else answers, she called herself Mrs. Whitney.  She told him the Mrs.Adams was in the hospital after having a nervous break down after her oldest son Ronald died in a car crash on the Brooklyn bridge.
  • Ronald Adams realizes that he is dead and that the hitchhiker that he continuously saw was a symbol of that.  He is upset that his mother is in the hospital.  Ronald Adams wants to find out who the hitchhiker was and who he was.
