Storyboard 13, 14, 15th amendments

Storyboard Text

  • 13th amendment.... was to free the slaves, anyone owning slaves could be punished. A lot of the slaves, those that had owners who were decent to them, asked to stay on. They then got paid for their work, and still had a place to sleep.
  • !4th amendment..... says that all people born in the United States or naturalized, which includes all former slaves, were granted citizenship and equal protection of the laws.... Even with this, slaves were still treated differently than the white people... especially by those who thought that there should be slavery.....
  • 15th amendment.... Gave all citizens the right to vote.... no matter the race, color, or servitude.....
  • A lot of the slaves that left after being freed, died from disease or from starving. It was not made easy for them after having such a hard life in slavery, only to be free and then die...
  • Even with being citizens, not all men were treated equally!
  • The 13th, 14th, and 15th amendment was a start for change. The 13th freed the slaves, the 14th was a start by law for them and those of color to be treated equally and make them citizens, and the 15th allowed those to vote. For any changes, there has to be a beginning and this is it.... Many years later, we are still having issues with equality.
