Storyboard Text

  • Exposition
  • Conflict
  • It's the aliens. They are the ones doing this. This is how it always happens. There are aliens living among us disguised as humans.
  • Rising Action
  • Listen, I'm not an alien. I don't know why my car starts, it just does. I have insomnia that"s why I'm up late and come out to look at the stars. All of you are crazy.
  • A bright flash lights up the sky. It is late summer in Maple Street, U.S.A. The residents watch, realising also that all the power is out. Not even things that run on batteries work.
  • Rising Action
  • As everyone wonders what is happening a boy, Tommy, says that he knows what is going on. He says that the flash was caused by aliens who also caused the power to go out. He also claims that there are aliens living among the residents of Maple Street.
  • Climax
  • Desperate for an explanation, the people believe Tommy. Not even cars will work, but somehow Les Goodman's car starts on its own. Les Goodman is accused of being an alien and communicating with aliens when he goes outside at night to look at the stars. He defends himself, saying that he suffers from insomnia and looks for another person on which to lay the blame.
  • Falling Action/Resolution
  • It is easy, simply mess with a few of their machines and they destroy themselves.
  • Thinking that Pete Van Horn is an alien when he is walking back in the dark, Charlie shoots him. He does this without even thinking. Charlie is then accused of being an alien because of how easily he killed.
  • You killed him!
  • As everyone begins to accuse eachother of being aliens, in the hopes of saving themselves, people begin to fight. the residents of Maple Street in their search for an alien have unintentionally begun to destroy eachother. The residents lose more than just their power, they also lose their humanity.
  • Maybe Steve is the alien.
  • Charlie's the one who killed Pete Van Horn!
  • Listen to all of you. There are no aliens. Everyone is just looking for a scapegoat.
  • As the residents of Maple Street are busy destroying themselves, it is shown that there are indeed aliens who are responsible for the power failing. They don't have to physically destroy the humans themselves. All that they have to do, they say, is mess with a few of their devices and the humans will destroy themselves.
