  • Adams is leaving and his mother is very upset he is driving for so long.  She does'nt want him to  get hurt or pick up any strange people on the side of the road. Her tells her he will stop at every hotdog stand and call her when he arrives at his destination.
  • Rising Action
  • Adams is on the bridge and he see a man that is leaning on the cables of the bridge.  There was a fresh spot of rain on his shoulders. With him he had a cheap bag and he had a hat pulled down over his eyes. The man stepped in front of Adams and if he would not have skidded to the side he would have hit the man.
  • Climax
  • Adams saw the man again he wa standing with the same bag ,hat and even the rain spattered on his cloths. He hailed Adams this time saying " Hall-ooo". So Adams stepped on the gas and his car shot forward. He had no intention of stopping. He had to stop at the next gas station and the mechanic filled up his car with gas.
  • Resolution
  • Adms needed to have someone in the car with him so he picked up the first person he saw and that was a girl. He said he would take her all the way to Amarillo. Then he saw the man again and swerved into the barbed wire fence and the girl yelled for him to watch out. He yelled back "did you see that time". 
  • Adams was going to call his mother so he could hear her voice to reasure himself he was not going crazy. When he called, all that was on the other side of the line was Mrs. Whitney and she was saying that his mother was in the hospital with a mental collapse because Adams had died.
  • Adams had realized that ever since the Brooklyn Bridge he was dead.  He is in Gallup ,New Mexico he was going to go mad. Somewhere out there the man is waiting for Adams to come.
