Ronald is crossing the Brooklyn Bridge. He saw a man leaning on the cables. He seemed to be waiting for a lift.
Ronald later saw him again while crossing Pulaski Skyway over the Jersey flats. He had his thumb pointing west.
Ronald saw him again. This time he noticed him. He was on the detour in Ohio.
Arnold picked up a girl so he wasn't alone. He later saw the hitch hiker and tried to run him over. He ended up running into a barbed wire fence. The girl thought she shouldn't be in the car.
Ronald stops at an auto camp. He feels lonely and calls his mom. His mom wasn't the one to pick up the phone. It turns out his mom is in the hospital because she found out he died. on the Brooklyn Bridge.
