  • I will and will only be on the coast for three months.

  • Rondal Adams is going to Calfornia from Brooklin and is saying goodbye to Mrs.Adams his mother.  Mrs.Adams says that Ronald needs to be careful don't fall asleep, drive fast, or pick up any strangers.  She also tells Adams to wire her as soon as he gets to Hollywood.
  • Rising Action
  • Adams was driving on the Brooklin Bridge early in the morning when it was raining.  He saw a man standing on the side of the bridge.  The man was holding an overnight bag and looked to be waiting for a ride.
  • Climax
  • Soon after he saw the man on the bridge he saw him again at the Pennsylvania Turnpike.   This time the man said, "hellooo helloo."  Adams quickly stepped on the gas to get away from the man.
  • Resolution
  • Adam's saw a girl and asked if she would like a ride since she was on the side of the road.  The woman said sure and stated that she wants to go to Amarillo Texas.  She gets in the car and they started driving soon Adams runs into a barbed wire fence because he sees the man again. 
  • Adams stops at a phone booth to call a loved one to calm down and maybe stops seeing the man.  Adam told the operator that the call was long distance and that he wanted to call Brooklin New York and said his address.  Adams pays and the person on the other side of the phone says Adams residence.
  • He soon finds out that his mother is in the hospital because of nervous breakdowns.  The reason for these breakdowns was that her oldest son Ronald had died in a car accident on the Brooklin Bridge six days ago.  Then the times is up that Adams has to talk on the phone so he hangs up and tries to pull himself together.
