Crossing Brooklyn Bridge Adan saw a man leaning against the cables. He seemed to be waiting for a ride. He then stepped of the walk and if Adam would have not swerved he would have hit him
Adam would have forgotten about him but Adam saw him again an hour later. Adam just thought that a trucker picked him up and beat him to the Skyway. Later that night Adam saw him again.
After see the guy a few more times Adam got scared to be in the car by himself. He decided to give this girl on the side if the road a lift. Adam saw the guy again and pointed to the girl but she did not see him. After Adam tried to run over the imaginary guy the girl got out of the car.
After a while Adam would see the guy every other mile. Adam wanted to tell his mother what happened. When he called, it was not mother who answered. It was Mrs. Whitney who told Adam his mother was in the hospital.
Mrs. Whitney told Adam that she had been in the hospital since her son died in an accident on the Brooklyn Bridge. Adam realized that he died on the bridge. He also realized that the man he kept seeing represented death.
