  • That is the biggest pearl I have ever seen!
  • Oh my goodness Juana! Look what I was able to find in the water!
  • Rising Action
  • Why have you come here? The baby is almost better now.
  • I was busy earlier but I am here now to cure your young one who is still sick.
  • In "The Pearl," there is a family of three who live in La Paz. The family consists of Kino, Juana, and Coyotito. One day, while Coyotito was playing, he is stung by a venomous scorpion.
  • Climax
  • We need to get rid of that evil pearl right now Kino.
  • Kino and Juana seek medical help from a local doctor but they have no money to pay him so the doctor will not help. They decide the only way to earn enough money is to go pearl hunting and hope to find a pearl worth enough money. When they find the pearl it is the biggest pearl anyone has every seen!
  • Falling Action
  • I can't believe this has happened after everything we have been through!
  • The doctor decides to start coming by regularly because he had heard the news. Kino and Juana have to start fighting off villagers and robbers who have also heard of the big pearl and want to become rich.
  • Resolution
  • It's time to let it go.
  • I know............
  • Juana tries to get rid of the pearl but Kino stops her. While Kino was on his way back he was attacked and he killed a man. There house was burned down and they had no choice but to try and leave La Paz and find a new life by selling their pearl.
  • We are going to keep this pearl. We have been able to survive everything so far. We just nee to leave this town now!
  • While they were heading north, they were being tracked down by some hunters. After several days of walking and trying to avoid and deceive the hunters, Kino decided to confront the hunters and try to kill them. Before he could one of them was able to shoot coyotito in the head and kill him.
  • In the end of the story, they decided to go back to La Paz because they were tired of running from all of the evils they had been fighting. They decided to get rid of the pearl and trow it back into the ocean where it came from.
