Ronald Adams says goodbye to his mother. She says to be careful, and he promises to do so. He waves goodbye, and drives away.
Let go of me!
Don't leave me!
Ronald is on the Brooklyn Bridge when he sees a hitchhiker in his way. He swerves and misses the man. He did not know it at the time, but this hitchhiker was different than the others.
Ronald is driving along when he sees the Hitchhiker again. He is the exact same person, even though he was way behind him on the Brooklyn Bridge. Unsteady, he keeps driving.
He picks up a girl, just to keep the hitchhiker away. However he sees him and tries to run him over, but to no avail, but the girl didn't see the man, and thinks Ronald is crazy. She tries to get out out the car, struggles, but slips herself free, leaving Ronald alone.
He believes a friendly voice will send his mind straight, so he calls his mother, but another woman is on the line. She says that his mother is in emotional shock. This is because her son died.
Ronald relizes he is dead. He knows that he will see the Hitchkiker again. When he does he will figure out the Hitchhiker is, and who hi, himself, is.
