- On 1822 John Buckings was born to a enslaved mother,Lisa Farmington, and free father, Tuck Buckings. Tuck chose to become enslaved as
- As a result of john's frail body type, he is rented out by a slave owner to work as a servant in the house. John was no longer able to see his parents because he worked in the house.
- During his time at the house, he met a girl named Araminta but insisted he called her Minty. While John was 5 Araminta was 7. Once the two grew closer to eachother they become inseparable.
- Hi im Araminta, you can call me Minty if you want.
- Hi, my name is John.
- Despite the tight bond that Araminta created with John while being at the plantation, Araminta always spoke of gaining her freedom. She also spoke about assisting other slaves to become free.
- Do you ever think we will ever be free?
- They will never give us our freedom, we will have to take it.
- As the years passed Araminta became more expressive about her stance against slavery whenever she was given the chance to. This caused Araminta to stop an overseer from killing a fugitive slave .
- Suffering the massive blow left behinf by a weighted object, Araminta's willingness to stand up against slavery plagued her with a lifetime of headaches and narcolepsy
