This war was like the first 2 months of WW1 where the french and Belgium troops fought. They dug deep trenches to protect/hide from the other team. Stalemate developed along the Western Front because they tactics of offensive warfare had not developed.
When war was starting people upgraded there fighting by bring in all these new weapons and technology.Some used poison gas which blinded or choked its victims. In 1916 Britain introduced the first armored tank. Both sides used aircraft but at first it was just to spy but then they dropped gas filled baloons on the enemies.

Congress passes the Selective Service Act authorizing the draft. Although criticized for destroying democracy at home while fighting for it abroad, President Wilson claims he sees no other option and signs the bill into law.
The Battle of Belleau Wood ends with the final expulsion of the Germans from the wood, which marks the farthest German advance on Paris. The area has changed hands six times during the three-week battle, which has caused nearly 10,000 American casualties.
