  • What is happening in this picture was the Great Awakening. The Great Awakening was when religion became very important to the colonies. Preachers would address large crowds in open fields. Colonists became more engaged in religion. Preachers were very supportive in religious freedom and Toleration.
  • Jamestown was the first establishment in the 13 colonies in 1607. Jamestown is located in Virginia. It was established to create profit. Their biggest cash crop was tobacco. They also established the Virginia House of Burgesses. Jamestown struggled to survive, but eventually they were able to grow cash crops and make profit.
