  • Mindset: Fixed
  • Judson is going as far as making a law against many of Prudence's students and will fine Prudence $100 dollars per student from out of state adn it doubles every time.
  • The author used this date to show what time period it was so that you knew that in 1833 women weren't very valued therefor shae couldn't go in the meeting herself she had to have someone go for her.
  • Word Gap: Abominations
  • The difference is that Judson was thought to be a mean stubborn person but suprisingly he apologized to May and showed that he had is kinder than expected. This matters because it shows a glimpse of hope because he is nicer than they thought.
  • Summary: SWBS
  •  Judson has a fixed mindset because he is doing everything in his power to close Prudence's school and won't cave in.  Becuase he feels colored people shouldn't be able to get an education. This is scaring prudence and some of her students. If Prudence's students leave, then she won't have enough students to teach, so she wouldn't be able to teach people of color.
  • Bookclub Question:
  • Why would Ann Eliza risk getting whipped in front of the whole town instead of just going to a different school in a different state?
