I don't own nor have wrote this book, this is just a slight adaption done in visual appeal.
Sergeant-Major Morris tells Mr. and Mrs. White about the Monkey's Paw. Mr. and Mrs.White request to have the talisman, even after Morris warns them about the consequences.
Sergeant-Major Morris purposely throws the Monkey's Paw in the fire. "Better let it burn," He says.
Mr. and Mrs. White retrieve the Monkey's Paw despite Morris telling them not to. They wish for 200 pounds. Herbert doesn't seem too amused.
Herbert gets caught in machinery and dies. Coincidentally, the company pays 200 pounds as compensation.
Mrs. White convinces Mr.White to wish for Herbert to come back. After doing so, this leads Mrs.White to believe that the rat that she spotted is actually Herbert. She changes her mind after they hear a knock at the door.
Herbert knocks at the door. In exchange for his life, Mrs. White and Mr.White die.
