"I'm thinking of turning myself in." Explained Johnny
"What." Dally said as he almost keeled.
"Have my parents asked about me." Johnny asked.
"No, you don't need them", exclaimed Dally
Johnny, jail changes you and makes you tough
I don't want Johnny to change
Johnny tells Ponyboy and Dally that he wants to turn himself in. I think Johnny feels like it was self defense and he doesn't really have anybody that loves him to go home to, so he thinks he barely has anything to lose and might win the case.
"Don't go in there your going to be roasted." Screamed Dally
I started the fire, I started the fire.
In this scene Johnny asks about his parents and if they are worried about him. When Dally says no Johnny feels sad and unwanted. This shows that Johnny is sensitive unlike a usual greaser.
I wonder if Johnny and Dally are ok." said Ponyboy
"You were very brave to go in that church and save the kids"
Dally was talking to Johnny and told him he didn't want him to go to jail because jail changes people and doesn't want Johnny to change. This shows Dally cares about Johnny and likes him the way he is.
In this scene Ponyboy and Johnny go into the church to save the children. Ponyboy knew he started the fire and wasn't that scared going into the church.
Ponyboy was on his way to the hospital on an ambualace. He was thinking about Johnny and Dally wondering if they were ok. Jerry Wade was also talking to him telling him how brave he was.
Ponyboy meats up with his brothers at the hospital. Exilerated, Ponyboy went up to his brothers and hugged them with a smile that was a mile long on his face. While hugging them Ponyboy thought that Darry didn't yell at him because he didn't like him, it was because he loved him and cared about him.
