the declaration of Independence was adopted by the congressional congress on July 4th of 1776 and served to severed the American Colonies political connections with great Britain and confirmed to the world that the colonies and Britain were indeed at war.

the articles of confederation was the United States first attempt at creating a form of government, but due to the public left in fear of big government, the articles of confederation left the states holding an extreme amount of power and the central government without basic powers such as a standard currency or the ability to tax the people or states because of this the central government lacked the money to govern

the constitutional convention known at the time as the Philadelphia convention and took place from May 25th to September 17th, 1787. and was originally intended to revise the Articles of Confederation however some key members such as James Madison and Alexander Hamilton believed it to be easier and more effective to draft a new government, the out come of the constitutional convention was the drafting of a new government under the Constitution of the United States
