The main character Andy leaves his girlfriend Laura when he decides to go to the store to buy some cigarettes. When he arrives at the first store he discovers that it is closed so he starts walking to the candy store to see if they have cigarettes.
When the main character Andy is walking to the candy store someone unexpectedley comes up and stabs him in the stomach by someone in an oposing violent game.
In the rising action Andy tries to get four different people to help him. First he tries to get a drunk man to help him but instead he saunters off somewhere else. Next a young couple comes into the alleyway for a kiss when they see Andy when they notice that he is part of the Royals they leave not wanting to get involved with any gangs. Next an old lady comes near the alleyway but he can't move enough signal her or make a noise.
The climax takes place when our main character Andy struggles to take off the jacket. I believe that he works harder to take off his jacket than to save his own life is because this is the point when he realizes the gang Andy was so proud to be a part of was the reason he was killed.
The falling action begins when Laura decides to go look for Andy. When she turns the corner she sees him lying there so he quickly runs to him while her sobbing begins.
The short story ends at the resolution when the police man comes to investigate but instead of seeing and Andy as a person he sees him as a gang.
