In chapter one of The Pearl, a scorpion stings the baby of Kino and Juana. They try to get the doctor to come and stop the venom, but he is selfish and says no. so they have to do it by themselves, and they get the venom out using seaweed.
The second chapter of The Pearl is what the book is actually why the book is called "The Pearl". the pearl is actually found in this chapter. Kino is going around the ocean and then finds a giant clam with a big pearl. we do not know how big it is, but the book describes it as "The Pearl Of The World".
The third chapter of The Pearl is when Kino is wondering what to do with the pearl that he found. And we are introduced to his brother, Juan Tomas, who wants to know what Kino is going to do with the pearl.
The fourth chapter of The Pearl is when Kino goes to sell the pearl. He is in shock when he gets offered no more than $1000 pesos (or, 48 USD). he said that he would go all the way to Mexico City to get a good offer on the pearl (That is 280 hours to walk there!).
