  • Mary Beth TInker, John Tinker, and Chris Eckhardt went to school wearing armbands to protest the vietnam war and exercising their constitutional rights.
  • But they got suspended from school after refusing to take the armbands off after the school asked them too.
  • With their parents they sued the school. The supreme case sided with the children because they state that students and teachers don't "shed their constitutional rights to freedom of speech or expression at schoolhouse gate."
