  • The Pilgrims left England to escape religious persecution. They sailed the sea, and made it to Massachusetts, not their destination, Maryland.
  • Middle Colonies-Social
  • Quaker and Puritan exchanging jokes.
  • The Pilgrims made a social contract, called the Mayflower Compact. This compact bound them to live in a civil society, with their own laws.
  • Middle Colonies-Political
  • As payment for my debt, I will give your son a chunk of land in the New World.
  • In New England, the areas climate was way to cold, so they had to rely on fishing, whaling, and ship building.
  • Middle Colonies-Economic
  • Pennsylvania was made for quakers. He allowed other religions too, for quakers were supposed to be nice and not fight.
  • William Penn founded Pennsylvania, as the king owed his father. Guess why its called PENNsylvania.
  • Thank you, my glorious, shining, most powerful king.
  • The middle colonies were called the breadbasket because of their abundance of wheat and grains. This was a major play in the middle colonies economy.
