John Cabot was an Italian Explorer and navigator. He was born in Liverpool, Italy in 1405 but his birth certificate was lost so no one knows for sure.
Ever since John Cabot was a boy he always wanted to sail the seas and explore new lands. He grew up in Venice where sailers told stories about their adventures. That is when he wanted to find a shorter route to the Far East.
When the government didn't support John Cabot and his fancy ideas on a new route to the Far East he moved back to Engle with his wife and 11 sons. When he moved he created his own website and became famous for his charts and maps to find a faster route to the Far East.
After many years Cabot was able to test his new route. King Henry VII gave John a fleet of ships and a crew. Cabot thought that he spotted the land and found a quick route to India but the land didn't have the riches that John had read about, it was just wilderness.
Many people believe that John Cabot landed somewhere near Newfoundland. John was very disappointed but still claimed parts of Canada for England.
When John Cabot returned to England the king rewarded him with large sums of money even though he didn't find a faster route to the Far East. Some people believe that Cabot was the first billionaire of England.
