The Loisels were invited to a ministry ball, but Mme Loisel needed a new dress and jewelry. Her husband gave her $400 francs so she could buy a new dress and she borrowed the jewelry from her rich friend Mme Forestier.
Resolution
Mme. Loisel was a sensation at the ball. After she arrives home, she realizes she lost the necklace.
The Loisels had to borrow 36,000 francs to replace the necklace. Their life changed completely. They became pauper.
After 10 years of hard work, the Loisels finished paying their debt only to find out it was a fake necklace.
