This is about Bakke vs. the University of California
Alan Bakke is a young boy who is trying to go to college in the medical field.
This is one of the Regents from the University of California at Davis, where Mr. Bakke wants to attend college.
I haveapplied to your college in the years of 1973-1974 and have been denied both times. Why?
Well maybe you just do not meet our needs and requirements sir, have you ever thought about that?
Well there were 16 people from the minorities admitted into the college and there scores were worse than mine. I'M TAKING YOU GUYS TO COURT!
Sir, it is not that serious that is not the case. You just did not meet the criteria that we had for this year
Well I wanted to attend their school, but when I tried to apply I was denied. I believe that they aren't giving me equal opportunities as the minority groups. That is a violation of the 14th Amendment.
Well that is not the case at all your honor, as you will be evident when you look over the case.
So what seems to be the problem?
Well the court has came to the conclusion that it is unconstitutional for the University to admit people based on their race or ethnic group, so we are in favor of Bakke. Although we are in favor of Bakke we would also like to say that it would not be unconstitutional for the University to profile people with race being one of the many categories.
