"Jonas squeezed cleansing lotion onto the clean sponge at the edge of the tub and began to wash her frail body" It was effective to omit this scene from the play because it did not add anything to the story. The only purpose it served was to show that Jonas is unfamiliar with how releases work, but that is shown later, so it's unnecessary.
"He pushed the plunger very slowly, injecting the liquid into the scalp vein until the syringe was empty. "All done. That wasn't so bad, was it?"" The similarity between the two scenes was effective because it showed that Jonas' dad didn't understand that he was killing the baby. This continues the idea that many of the community members do what they are told without thinking.
"Downward, downward, faster and faster. Suddenly he was aware with certainty and joy that below, ahead, they were waiting for him; and that they were waiting too, for the baby" It was a good idea to leave this scene the way it was because it leaves the audience a chance to interpret it the way they want.
