Storyboard Text

  • In 1655, I, Robert Hooke, had found these odd shapes inside of a cork.  I decided to call them cells, because that is what they had looked like.
  • When examining an orchid plant, I discovered that in these "cells", there are nuclei which control the cell.
  • I declare that all plants are made up of more than one cell. Also, cells are the basic building blocks of all life.
  • From my testing, I can conclude that all animals are made up of cells.
  • Basing my work off of Theodore Shwann, I had discovered that all cells come from preexisting cells.
  • WE had learned that all living things are composed of one or more cells, cells are the basic unit of structure and function, and all cells come from preexisting cells!
