  • Growing tensions between the colonies and Britain.

  • The Quartering Act

  • NO MORE TAXES!
  • Britain was making unfair rules for the colonists and the colonists didn't agree. One of the rules was that Britain was making people pay extra to pay off the war. -Trevor Donohoe
  • The Boston Massacre
  • The Quartering Act gave soldiers places to live when they were guarding the colonists. Britain thought that the colonists should pay for the quarters.
  • The Boston Tea Party
  • The Stamp Act required colonists to pay tax for things made out of paper such as playing cards, newspapers, and marriage licences. The act is called The Stamp Act is called the The Stamp Act because, whenever the papers were taxed a blue stamp would be on it.
  • The Intolerable Act
  • The Boston Massacre started because all the colonists were angry at Britain and wanted freedom from Taxes. The colonists were throwing snowballs and rocks at the British soldiers and the British soldiers thought that they heard fire so they shot. Five colonists died that day.
  • Britain raised the taxes on tea and said that the colonists could only buy tea from Britain's company. The colonists went to Britain's ship and destroyed all the tea they had. They only destroyed the tea, nothing else.
  • The Intolerable Act was that the laws were so harsh that colonists didn't accept them. Also, The Boston Port Act closed the harbor so trade ships could not come or leave, this started the first continental congress.
