Salva's Uncle Ends up being killed by rebels who caught them walking to Ethiopia. Salva has to complete the walk to Ethiopia without the people that he loves. Salva does not have any family now and doesn't know how to make the rest of the walk.
Salva finishes his walk to the Ethiopian Refugee Camp with the group. He finally feels safe and at peace. He will eventually spend six years of his life in Refugee Camps.
One day, Salva was told that the Ethiopia Refugee Camp was shutting down because they couldn't remain stable. Rebels came in and attacked the refugees. Salva was forced out with many others. they had to make a great journey to Kenya. After arriving, he feels that same feeling of safety that he once felt, arriving at the first refugee camp. It was a long journey, but he knew he could make it, and led many young boys with him.
When he got to the refugee camp, there was a wall that was posted and people mostly without families homes in America with people open to adopting. everyday Salva checks for his name on the list but hasn't found it yet. But today was different, Salva's name was on the list! It said he was going to a family in Rochester, New York. Salva boarded the plane, and went to New York to meet his new family.
Salva lived in America with his family for many years, he attended college, and most importantly, found out his parents are alive and went to visit his father who was ill in the hospital. Salva then went home to America, and thought of a genius idea. He spent many years talking to people about his project and raising money for it.
Salva made a career for himself by building wells for some Dinka. Even though Salva was a Dinka man, he started building wells for Nuer Tribes too. He is building a well in a Nuer village. He meets a little girl named Nya. Nya is 11 years old and is very thankful of Salva. Nya's younger sister had been ill for a long time because all she ever drank was dirty water. Salva is continuing to build wells for people all over Sudan.
