The Boston Massacre was a fight in Boston. The colonists were making fun of the British by throwing stuff. The soldiers rebelled by shooting the colonists. Three were killed on the spot, and two were killed later.
Victory at Trenton
When the British taxed tea, the colonists were furious. On December 16, 1773, Sons of Liberty, dressed as Mohawk Indians, dumped 1,000 pounds of tea into Boston Harbor on three ships.

Sons of Liberty met to write the Declaration of Independence. The document officially broke America's ties with Britain.
Cornwallis Surrenders at Yorktown
On Christmas night, George Washington and his army crossed the Delaware River and attacked the Hessians. It was only an hour long, but the army was able to cause the Hessians to surrender.
When the British took over Philadelphia, the army camped at nearby Valley Forge. The weather was harsh. Many soldiers died.
