Storyboard Text

  • When you're in the car you should ALWAYS wear your seat belt. If you are in a crash or have to stop short you can be seriously injured. A seat belt helps protect you.
  • A lot of people think they're "cool" by not buckling but they're not. When you buckle you're cool because you are making the smart, safe choice.
  • Seat belts save lives but not everyone believes that because they think seat belts are just part of the car and they don't realize how important they are.
  • There are other safety devices in the car that can help you such us airbags but seat belts are proven to be more effective.
  • According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, "Of the 37,133 people killed in motor vehicle crashes in 2017, 47% were not wearing seat belts. In 2017 alone, seat belts saved an estimated 14,955 lives and could have saved an additional 2,549 people if they had been wearing seat belts."
  • My goal is to encourage everyone to buckle up and make sure they know the importance of buckling up. So the next time you get in the car, make sure everyone you are traveling with is buckled before the car starts moving.
