- On the second day of battle, Lee used a fish hook strategy on the Union when they fell back to town. The Confederate surrounded the Union on all sides.
- The Union managed to win thanks to the terrain. The Confederate losing was a major setback and a turning point because the South never directly attacked the North again.
- Because of the Battle of Gettysburg, on November 19, 1863, Lincoln gives, what is known as, one of the greatest speeches of all time.
- Four score and seven years ago...
- Appomattox Courthouse: On April 6, 1865, the Union and Confederate go into battle once more. Lee surrenders to Grant in Wilmers Mclean's house, after the Union cuts off their supplies and they became surrounded.
- All Confederate soldiers are sent home with property and were given Union rations. This ends the civil war.
