A girl named Belly goes to a summer house every year with her mom, brother, her mom's friend, and her mom's friend's two sons Conrad and Jeremiah. Belly has been in love with Conrad since she was little, and she's too scared to tell Conrad so she pretends she's not in love with him.
As the book continues, Conrad continues to be rude and pretends not to notice her, but when Belly gets a boyfriend, Conrad gets even more distant and pretends not to care for her. Belly tries to date her new boyfriend, Sam, but she realizes she's still in love with Conrad. Belly then confesses her feelings for Conrad to find out that the reason he's been so rude all summer is that because his mom is suffering from cancer.
The book ends with Belly and Conrad back in Belly's hometown where Conrad picks her up. It doesn't blatantly say it, but you can only assume they got together from the way they acted. I do like the way it ended, it leaves a little room for imagination but not too much. I didn't really expect it to end that way, but I didn't hate it.
