1528 Cabeza de Vaca was part of a expedition that got shipwreake on the Galveston Island and taken by the Karankawas. Years 1528 to 1536 Cabeza de Vaca went to tribe to tribe as a medicen man.1836 he and 3 other men arrived in Mexico City.He told stories about the city of gold.(Cibola)
1540, Coronado and his men went in search for the City of Gold.They found the Great Canyon,The Pacific Ocean,and explored all the way into present day Kansas,but no gold found.Since there was no gold in Texas,the Spanish ignored Texas.
Wait a minute,there is no City of Gold here(Cibola) .
1648, La Salle arrived in Texas and later was killed by his men.Only 7 survived,the Spanish became interested on Texas again and built missions in East Texas.
