  • When Spain regain interest in Texas, because they didn't want the French to take over the region. They built missions, towns, ranches, and presidios. Presidios are were Spanish soldiers are trained to protect missions from Native Americans and the French.
  • Near presidios their are towns, and they have Alcade and Ayuntamiento. Alcades are like the mayor of the town, and the ayuntamiento are like a council of the town.
  • Tejanos, mestizos, and converted Native Americans live in towns. Tejanos are Mexicans that live in Texas. Mestizos are Spaniards and Native Americans offspring. The Native Americans that converted to Catholicism were allowed to live in towns.
