Because Chang E's love for Hou Yi was strong, it drew her to the moon, the closest place to Earth in heaven. Saddened by what happened, Hou Yi shouted and looked upon the sky and was surprised to see a shape resembling Chang E in the moon.
Out of love and appreciation for Chang E, Hou Yi collected her favorite foods and offered it as a sacrifice to her. After word spread that Chang E had become a goddess, others began offering foods to her.
The Moon Festival or Mid-Autumn Festival would soon be celebrated throughout China as a way to celebrate the reunion and abundance of being within a family. Soon, other countries would begin celebrating the holiday, changing how people cherish their loved ones.
