I don't understand why people over 16 should be allowed to vote, aren't they all immature
Well actually not all young people are immure and most teenagers over 16 actually start to have adult responsibilities
Really?How so ?
.People under the age of 18 are active and contributing members of society. Millions of people work and volunteer in their communities. Many people under the age of 18 also have "adult" responsibilities, such as being the primary caregiver for an ailing family member, running a business, and contributing financially to our households.
Wow, that's makes sense! But do you have any other reasons
Actually yes! Another reason on my voting age should be lowered is that it will increase voter turnout
what do you mean by that ?
Voting is a habitual act; people who vote in one election are more likely to vote in the following.Because voting is a habit, encouraging new voters at a younger age will increase voter turnout as the population ages. Young people who vote have an impact on their parents' voter turnout.
wow you make some good points. i think might rethink my point of view
yeah, Voting at the age of 16 would encourage young people to get into the habit of voting sooner. Voting for the first time while still in school and a part of a stable community boosts turnout and interest
It will also help to make current civics education in schools more practical And that’s why I believe that the voting age in New Zealand should be lowered to 16.
