Storyboard Text

  • Hello, my name is Nick Carraway, I'm the main character/narrator in The Great Gatsby.
  • First, I'm going to take you to Gatsby's favorite speak easy to discuss the themes of our stories.
  • Hi, I'm Alyssa the main character from the book Dry.
  • This is not where I first met Gatsby but it's where he told me about himself for the first time.
  • Yes we are indeed in New York now lets go to the bar to talk about theme.
  • Oh okay, we're in New York right during the roaring 20s?
  • So here we are both alive and well after are stories have ended. What do you think the common them of our stories is?
  • Now I want to take you where I realized what is means to have hope.
  • Well I know that in my story the theme is Hope and that sometimes hope is the only thing you have.
  • Well Alyssa, I think hope and more of the idea of the American dream was present in my story through Gatsby. Gatsby had no money so he hoped and tried his whole life and finally became rich.
  • So how do you think hope was a theme in your story?
  • Yes, it was the first day they turned off the water. My parents went to the beach because they had water stations but they never came back home. Me and my neighbor went to look and they were gone. That's when I realized that all I could do was hope that I get to see them again.
  • Next they go to Gatsby's house...
  • So this is where you realized what hope was?
  • This is where Gatsby would come to see the green light on the dock at Daisy's house. The green light symbolized Gastby's hope that one day he would have Daisy.
  • Well then, it sounds like both of our stories have the same theme of hope and holding on to hope because sometimes its the only thing you have.
