  • "When Ah come round de lake 'bout noontime mah wife and some others had 'im flat on de ground usin' his sides fuh uh wash board."
  • This scene depicts Jainie's sexual awakening and she use the pear tree and the bees to represent this.
  • The dreams
  • "sposing you wuz tuh die, now. You wouldn't git mad at me for draggin' yuh heap?"
  • In this box, it depicts the scene where Janie becomes awe struck by the bees during their pollination process and thinks that love is like that.
  • The Uncontrollable 
  • "Naw. We been tuhgether round two years. If you kin see delight at daybreak, you don't keer if you die at dusk. It's so many people never seen de light at all"
