  •  Hi. I am Mr.Polk
  •  I went to the university of North Carolina at chapel hill and graduated in 1818
  •               Personal Background 
  • Famous Quote
  • " no union exists between church and state and perfect freedom of opinion is guaranteed to all sects and creeds" 
  •  President James K. Polk was the 11th president of the United States. He was often called the " Napolien  of the stump"  he was in office from 1845-1849 ( 1 term) he was a democrat  and got 170 Electoral Votes!
  •        Domestic/ Foreign Issue             
  • Lets settle this.!
  •  James Polk went to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill 1816-1818. Before the presidency, Polk was a member of the Tenessee House of Represenitives, U.S. House of Represenitives, Speaker of the House, and the governor of Tennessee also was  a lawyer
  •                Domestic/ Foreign Issue
  •  One of many quotes Polk said was  '' no union exists between church and state and perfect freedom of opinion is guaranteed to all sects and creeds"...   he said this based on Civil Liberties and Inaugural Addresses.

  • The U.S. and Mexico went to war in 1846 to settle the border line of Texas. The war lasted from 1846-1848 (a 2 year battle)
  •  The Treaty of 1848 was signed to bring peace between the United States  and the Mexican Republic  after the U.S. and Mexico

  •  James Polk's wife (sarah) hosted the first annual white house family dinner. Also Polk survived a Gallstone operation  at age 17 without anesthesia antiseptics (these medical practices weren't were not used at the time)
