There once was a girl named Medusa. She lived in the city of Athens. Medusa was a beautiful girl and she was very proud of it. She would brag to anyone who stopped long enough to listen.
I am the most lovely girl In all of Athens!
One day, Medusa and her friends went to the Parthenon, a temple dedicated to Athena. Medusa claimed that she was much better than the goddess Athena. She believes that the temple should be of her instead. Medusa started to insult Athena.
This is a beautiful temple. It’s a shame it was wasted on Athena when I could’ve made for a much better subject.
Athena is the goddess that watches over the city of Athens. When people heard how Medusa just insulted Athena, they grew scared. They feared what would happen if Athena had heard what Medusa just said. Everyone quickly began to leave.
I am so beautiful!
Medusa didn’t realize that the room was now empty. She was too busy gazing and admiring her reflection. Suddenly her reflection transformed. Her reflection transformed into the goddess Athena.
Athena appeared in front of Medusa. Athena had heard what Medusa had said and she was mad. Athena told Medusa that life isn’t all about beauty. Athena exclaimed that she shouldn’t spend her time bragging to everyone about her beauty.
There is more to life than your beauty and your looks. While others are playing and learning, you are to busy boasting and bragging about you.
Medusa disagrees with Athena. She believes that her beauty is inspiring. Medusa thinks that her beauty makes everyone’s lives better. Athena silenced her.
